CAD Technician, Blackburn


The role

Reporting to the Production Supervisor, the role of CAD Technician is primarily to feed the production team operating the Zund CNC plotter/cutter with nests generated in-house. You will be responsible for taking customer files usually in .DXF format and process them into nests for the kit cutting team. You will also be responsible for the digitising of physical templates in various formats both on and off-site using photo digitising software to accurately capture and interpret key information. You will liaise with the sales team and Production Supervisor to ensure the correct material is specified in marker reports and revise nests as they go through testing and approval stages.

You will be from a CAD / engineering background with an appreciation of production methods ideally within the composites industry. You will also be required at times to make visits to our clients and assist the sales team with technical support. This is a key role to support the manufacturing operation of the business, therefore an ability to manage several projects at once and meet deadlines is critical.

Essential Skills:

  • Attention to detail
  • Experience of 2D CAD drawing and nesting software
  • Working knowledge of Zund/Lectra/Gerber and other cnc digital knife cutting machines
  • Able to interpret engineering drawings

  • Use of Oracle NetSuite

  • Use of Solid works
  • Use of Sigma nest
  • Use of ZCC (Zund)
