Bidirectional fabrics are non-crimp composite reinforcements with fibres aligned in two principal directions, typically 0°/90°, and held together using polyester stitching yarns.

By placing fibres directly along orthogonal load paths, bidirectional fabrics provide balanced in-plane properties, efficient load transfer and consistent laminate performance.

Optional layers such as chopped strand mat (CSM) or fleece can be incorporated to improve surface finish, handling or thickness build-up.

Key Benefits

  • Balanced mechanical properties in 0° and 90° directions

  • Improved wet-out and resin impregnation

  • Good drape and conformability for complex shapes

  • Stable during cutting and handling

  • Clean edges with reduced fraying

  • Compatible with a wide range of resin systems

Product Range

Cristex supplies a range of bidirectional fabrics in both carbon and glass fibre, available in various weights and configurations.

  • Fibre orientation: 0°/90°

  • Standard widths: 1270–1300 mm (other widths available subject to MOQ)

  • Optional CSM or fleece layers for enhanced surface finish or laminate build

These materials are suitable for a wide range of composite manufacturing processes, including hand lay-up, infusion and RTM.
