Glass Fabric
Glass fibre fabrics are versatile composite reinforcements widely used across a broad range of applications due to their strength, cost-effectiveness and ease of processing.
Manufactured from extremely fine glass filaments, these fibres are woven into fabrics or rovings to provide reliable mechanical performance, good chemical resistance and electrical insulation properties.
Woven glass fabrics and woven rovings remain one of the most widely used reinforcement materials in composite manufacturing, offering a balance of performance, affordability and processing flexibility.
Key Benefits
-
Good strength-to-weight performance
-
Excellent electrical insulation (non-conductive)
-
High resistance to corrosion and chemical attack
-
Cost-effective reinforcement solution
-
Compatible with a wide range of resin systems
Product Range
The Cristex range of woven glass fabrics and woven rovings includes a wide variety of weights, weave styles and material types.
E-glass is the most commonly used glass fibre type, offering a good balance of mechanical performance, chemical resistance and cost efficiency. It is widely used across general composite applications.
S-glass (high modulus glass) provides improved tensile strength and stiffness compared to E-glass, making it suitable for more demanding structural applications where higher performance is required.
Woven rovings are heavier fabrics produced from continuous filament roving, typically used in structural laminates where increased thickness and strength are required.
-
Available in plain, twill, satin and leno weave constructions
-
Fabric weights ranging from lightweight surface layers to heavy structural reinforcements
-
Compatible with epoxy, polyester, vinyl ester and phenolic resin systems
Higher weight and specialist constructions are available on request to meet specific application requirements.
