SAERTEX along with Cristex recently presented and exhibited at the Fire Performance show in Gloucestershire.
The focus was on the importance of composite materials in fire and the potential growth markets such as construction, rail, marine, aerospace and oil & gas. Composites can be used to make structures with clear fire performance benefits over many other materials, these materials are also beneficial for characteristics such as weight reduction or corrosion resistance.
LEO coated fabric has the highest level of fire resistance integrated within the fabric and complies with the strictest fire safety standards and railway applications HL3 acc. to EN 45545-2 (-3) and can be used in floor panels of rail vehicles. The material is standardised and reproducible in layer thickness thanks to the controlled machine application of the fire retardant material onto the fabric ensuring no weak spots.
Another strong benefit is 50% time-saving thanks to integrated fire protective layer
-
The material is processed like a standard fabric using vacuum infusion.
-
This eliminates the usual manufacturing process required to apply a fire protective coating.
-
For simple shapes like panels or single-curved parts
-
Also possible with RTM
